Naiva: ‘Some peeps say that I’m the cherry on top of the cake 🤫’

The second semi final of the Serbian national selection “Pesma za Evroviziju ’22” is set for tonight. Nine songs have already made the final list night, and tonight another 18 acts are going to compete for the remaining nine places that lead to tomorrow’s final, in which Serbia’s entry for Eurovision 2022 will be selected.

Ahead of tonight’s second semi final, we spoke to the runner up of Beovizija 2020 – Naiva, got to know her better, and find out more about her entry “Skidam”. Find out everything she told us in this interview below:

Hello Naiva, first of all I would like to congratulate you for being selected to take part at Pesma za Evroviziju ’22. How does that feel and what made you decide to take part at the contest?

Thank you so much. It kinda feels like a deja vu, but then again completely different. This year I am coming with a completely new vibe and I hope that the audience will like it.

In your debut in Beovizija two years ago with “Baš Baš” you ended as the runner up, how did that feel?

It felt surreal and it still does. Competition this is super strong, so I don’t think I will be runner up again, but I definitely will give my best.

Can you tell us a bit more about “Skidam”, how did it came to life, what does it mean for you and what’s the message behind the song?

It came to life spontaneously, as the best things in life happen. Jelena Zana wrote really strong and super direct lyrics, Zoran Babović Babonja made a beautiful melody and Željko Veljković, as a producer, packed it all in a really dramatic and powerful song.

In 2020 you released the music video for “Baš Baš” which is very joyful and celebrates your region, now the music video for “Skidam” brings completely different side of you can you tell us more about the idea of the music video?

I completely agree. As I said, this song in some different kind of mood, I would say more mature. That is kinda logical, because with time we change, our perspective changes and we grow up, which I think happened with me and it has reflected in my new song. For me ‘Skidam’ means that I realized what I want, that now I know my values and after all, we have to get lost a bit in order to find the right path for ourselves.

What can we expect from your performance at Pesma za Evroviziju ’22, can you give us a hint?

A comfortable but interesting performance.

Have you watched last year’s edition of Eurovision? If so which song was your favourite?

Well I did, and I think that Maneskin rightfully took the win.

If you had a chance to make a duet with any Pesma za Evroviziju/Eurovision participant, who would you choose?

With Ivona, for sure.

Is there anything about you that people may not know?

Well some may or may not know, but I’m super elastic.

What are your plans after Pesma za Evroviziju ’22?

Well right after, I will get some junk food and rest, for sure. Afterwards, making sure plans for new projects.

Thank you so much for your time Naiva. We wish you the best of luck at Pesma za Evroviziju ’22.

Thank You Nikola for lovely questions, and thank you guys for reading this interview. And if you feel bored on Friday night, join me and watch the semifinals of Pesma za Evroviziju! I will perform last, some peeps say that I’m the cherry on top of the cake. 🤫
