Years & Years turned down to represent the UK

UK newspaper The Daily Mail has reported how Years & Years was turned down to represent the UK this year.

The actor and singer Years & Years reportedly put himself forward to the BBC, before learning that only singers selected by the management company TaP were eligible for selection.

According to the newspaper, Years & Years has been told he stands a good chance of being selected if he puts his name forward next year, as long as the rules change.

TaP helped launch the careers of British singer Dua Lipa to global stardom before she parted ways with the company in February this year. Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Ray and Cruz Beckham are also signed to the label.

The UK stormed to the top of the leaderboard after the jury vote with 283 points, and earned an extra 183 points from the public, putting them in second place with 466 points overall.

Responding to his success during the final at Turin’s PalaOlimpico arena, Sam said:

‘Thank you so much… there’s so much gratitude sitting around in this green room… what an experience.’
