Internal selection for Israel’s Eurovision 2023 representative!

News from Israel about how they will be selecting their 2023 representative. Next year’s Israeli representative will be chosen through an internal selection!

This committee will be evaluating artists who are big hitters on the playlists of radio stations and other music platforms and have experience in performing for large audiences. When the selection of the artist is finished and all parties have agreed, the hunt for the song will start.

The last artist to be internally selected was Mei Finegold for contest of 2014. From 2015 to 2020 the representatives were chosen through HaKokhav HaBa (the Israeli version of Rising Star), with the twist that the winners would go on to represent the country indeed. Because Eurovision 2020 was cancelled, that cycle’s winner, Eden Alene, was chosen to represent the country in the 2021 contest right away. In 2022 Israel used the X Factor format to select their artist, which became the season winner: Michael Ben David.

Michael represented Israel in Turin with the upbeat ‘I.M.’:
