The Eurovision Song Contest is coming to Latin America!

The EBU has announced today, on the 12th of July 2022, that the Eurovision brand will be expanded to Latin America. The production team will be the same, as the producers of the American Song Contest and Eurovision Song Contest Canada. This team includes Christer Björkman, who represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1992 and was the producer of Melodifestivalen from 2002 to 2021, and also of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 and 2016.

The Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, Martin Österdahl, expressed his excitement about the latest Eurovision expansion:

Following on from the launch of the American Song Contest, and with plans underway for Eurovision Song Contest Canada next year, the European Broadcasting Union is thrilled to be now working with Voxovation on bringing the excitement and magic of the Eurovision Song Contest to Latin America. The unique Eurovision format finds new fans across the globe every year and we can’t wait to expand the brand in this hugely diverse part of the world

The producers will now try to find a Latin American city, that will host the competition. There is no date or list of participating countries yet, but further information is about to come.
