Belgium to hold national final for Eurovision 2023!

Next year it’s the Flemish broadcaster’s turn to choose the artist and song to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest. This will be done in a different way than what we’ve been grown used to the past few editions they’ve been involved!

Instead of selecting everything internally, VRT will be organising a competition! This was revealed by the Flemish commentator, Peter van de Veire, during the ‘Zomerhit’ show on channel Eén this evening.
He elaborated as following:

The VRT has the fantastic task of sending someone or ‘someones’ to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023. I love the Eurovision Song Contest, but critics say it’s ‘old stuff’. But it’s for the youth, for the future. That’s why we decided to do something more than usual with it this year. So VRT is going to be looking for the new candidate through a contest. Anyone can apply for that.

Further details about this contest will be shared at a later date.

This year, chosen by the Walloon broadcaster RTBF, Jérémie Makiese was sent to represent Belgium in Turin with ‘Miss You’:

Are there any artists you hope to see in the Belgian national selection next year? Even representing Belgium in the United Kingdom?
