Cornelia Jakobs wins Swedish Song and Breakthrough Of The Year at Rockbjörnen 2022

The annual Swedish music award show Rockbjörnen, awarded by Sweden’s biggest newspaper Aftonbladet, was held for the 43rd time last night and many of the winners have a connection to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Cornelia Jakobs, who represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin with the song “Hold Me Closer”, was the biggest winner of the night. Not only did the Melodifestivalen winner win the Rockbjörn in the category of Swedish Song Of The Year for her Eurovision entry, but she also won a second award as Breakthrough Of The Year. Due to her enormous success at Melodifestivalen and in Eurovision this year, Cornelia has become a massive star in Sweden, known across the entire nation and of course abroad.

At the Eurovision Song Contest this year, Cornelia has also managed to give Sweden their best result since their last victory in 2015, getting the silver medal by the international juries and the 4th place overall.

Another winner at Rockbjörnen 2022 was Benjamin Ingrosso, who represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon. He won both the Fan Award Of The Year and, for the fourth time in a row, the Male Artist Of The Year award. In Eurovision, Benjamin Ingrosso performed the song “Dance You Off” and finished in 7th place.

The Female Artist Of The Year award went to the Swedish singer-songwriter Miss Li, who has never participated in the Eurovision Song Contest herself, but has written several songs for the German Eurovision Song Contest winner Lena Meyer-Landrut.
