In tribute to Olivia Newton-John: Samantha Janus opens up about having breast cancer!

On August 8th, we reported the sad news about Olivia Newton-John passing away, after a long fight against breast cancer. Her death has reached millions of people and raised awareness to the disease of breast cancer. One of many celebrities who posted a statement about Newton-John’s passing was the British singer and actress Samantha Womack. Just like Olivia Newton-John, she had also represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest, which is why her maiden name Samantha Janus may sound more familiar to the Eurovision fans.

Sadly, their Eurovision participation is not the only thing the two women have in common, since Samantha revealed in her Twitter post, that she was also diagnosed with breast cancer. It can be assumed from the post, that the diagnosis is still fairly recent.

Samantha represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1991 in Rome with the song “A Message To Your Heart” where she finished in 10th place. After Eurovision, she quit making music professionally and started her career as an actress. Since then she has starred in many movies and TV Shows, including the famous British soap “EastEnders”.

You can re-watch Samantha’s Eurovision performance below. We wish her a fast and easy recovery from this horrible disease!
