Petra Mede gave birth to her second child at the age of 52!

The popular Swedish Eurovision presenter Petra Mede became a mother for the second time, at the age of 52. Her first daughter is 10 years old and in the spring of 2022, Petra has revealed her second pregnancy in the morning show Nyhetsmorgon when she was already six months pregnant. During the interview, she expressed her joy about her situation.

I am so incredibly happy and lucky and feel very, very privileged. You take one day at a time. Nothing is obvious, a pregnancy is never obvious. I can’t wait until we finish

The host also asked Petra if there was a father in the picture, which Petra negated. She said that she would do this on her own, like many othet things in her life. A good example of that would be the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, which she hosted all by herself. Humurously, she even mentioned that during the opening of the first semi-final of the 2013 contest, making a quote by Orson Welles to her own:

We’re born alone and we die alone. Well, in my case I’ll also host the Eurovision Song Contest alone!

Petra also presented Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, together with Eurovision winner Måns Zelmerlöw. She is therefore one of only three people, who hosted the Eurovision Song Contest more than once. The French presenter Jacqueline Joubert hosted the competition in 1959 and 1961 and British Katie Boyle was the host in 1960, 1963, 1968 and 1974. The host duo of 2016, Petra and Måns, performed the iconic interval act “Love, Love, Peace, Peace” which became one of the most beloved interval acts among Eurovision fans, in the history of the contest!

We congratulate Petra on her newest family member and wish her and her newborn child a lot of love and peace!
