RTVE has just revealed that the eleven-year-old from Valencia Carlos Higes will represent Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The announcement has taken place during a commercial break of the talent show Master Chef Celebrity.
Carlos Higes is a singer, actor and model born in Valencia 11 years ago. The young performer has already taken part in different talent shows like Idol Kids and The Voice Kids, where he reached the semifinal. Apart from playing the piano and singing, Carlos loves playing indoor football and learning languages. He has been a big fan of Eurovision since 2016 when he was only 4 years old and loves Armenia and the Armenian language.
I couldn’t believe it. I pinched my arm to know he wasn’t dreaming. I’m in a bubble, Carlos said about when he got the news.
Two months ago, the Spanish broadcaster opened a call for artists to select the best performer for Yerevan. From a total of 95 submissions received, the broadcaster shortlisted 10 candidates that took part in live auditions that, according to posts made by the members of the delegation, took place yesterday at RTVE’s studios. At the auditions, the finalists had to perform two songs in front of a professional expert panel made up of members of the delegation and some experts, like Tony Sánchez-Ohlsson, lyricist of Quédate Conmigo (ESC 2012).
Now, the Spanish delegation along with the selected performer will choose the song that will represent the country at Junior Eurovision 2022 from 256 compositions received. Earlier this year, the Head of Delegation Eva Mora stated they were working on selecting a good song for Junior Eurovision. The song and the official music video will be recorded during this month.
An official presentation of the performer will be held tomorrow at the Prado Del Rey Studios, where the artist is expected to talk about the upcoming experience and give some impressions after winning the ticket to Yerevan.
