Casting kicks off in San Marino with Elettra Lamborghini considering an entry

The Little Tony Auditorium in Serravalle is hosting the first day of casting for Una voce per San Marino 2023. Today, Eurovision’s smallest nation begins looking for its fourth Eurovision Grand Finalist as the Casting phase of the Sammarinese national final kicks off!

Broadcaster SMRTV’s first phase of casting will continue through Sunday 30th October, with more casting phases to come. It is still possible to submit a selection to UVPSM until 27th January.

This year, the contest includes five Semi Finals, from which 20 Italian and international artists will be selected. Furthermore, a separate “San Marino Semi Final” will choose another 4 finalists.

Unlike last year, 2023’s edition will not see the “Big” artists go directly to the final, as Achille Lauro did, and won the competition in February 2022.

Elettra Lamborghini (granddaughter of Ferruccio Lamborghini, founder of Lamborghini) has also hinted that she could participate. While she is most known for her roles on reality shows including Gran Hermano VIP, The Voice of Italy, and Geordie Shore, Lamborghini made her Sanremo Festival debut in 2020.

Her song “Musica (e il resto scompare)” from the album Twerking Queen, finished a disappointing 21st out of 23 entries that year. In a recent interview with Shangay magazine, she spoke about Sanremo, and mentioned San Marino:

I would like to participate in Eurovision with a reggaeton song. But to do it I would have to win Sanremo and I don’t think it will ever happen. Even in the year I participated [2020] I felt like a winner: my song was very successful. I always have the possibility of [representing] San Marino.
