Just like for Eurovision 2022, the Spanish entry at the upcoming Contest will be selected at the national selection: Benidorm Fest. The opening ceremony of the show will take place on 29th January while the two semi-finals will take place on 31st January and 2nd February. The Grand Final of Benidorm Fest is scheduled for 4th February. It has been announced that out of all the application that a maximum of 16 acts will be selected to take part in the semi-finals of the national selection.
RTVE has revealed that 482 have been received via web and email, while 394 have been sent directly by record companies and publishing labels. Furthermore, it was mentioned that among those applications there are a lot of familiar artists from the Spanish alternative music scene, TikTok as well as some of well-known names from Eurovision.
Some might say that a similar situation was at the previous edition of Eurovision and then an unfamiliar artist won the show and brought Spain their best result at the contest in the last 26 years.
