ESCBubble’s 2022 Top 250 results

What happens when a bunch of Eurovision nerds from around the world combine their ESC250 votes? You get the ESCBubble team’s list of our top songs! This fun team vote coincided with the ‘Eurovision Top 250’ poll created by the Belgian fan site songfestival.be.

If you follow us on Facebook and our Instagram stories, you may have seen some of our Top 10 already. We will reveal our number 1 on social media on New Year’s Day, and we will find out if our top song matches the number 1 from the real vote!

Some Stats

For our 2022 results, we had 17 members of our team contribute their ESC250 points. Votes came in from our colleagues across Europe, Australia, and Canada – so it is no surprise that our varied music tastes resulted in 124 different chosen songs. That’s an average of 7.3 new songs added to the list per voter!

We picked 20 winning songs from Eurovision’s 69 winners (remember 1969!), giving them a total of 219 points of an available 986, so that’s almost a quarter of all votes!

We chose at least one song from all but two countries that will hit the stage in Liverpool (only Malta and Poland got 0 points), while we liked Italy and Norway the most – each country is featured seven times on our list. Italy also got the most points given to a single country, getting a total of 103 – that’s about 1 in every 10 points going to the “land of pizza and Sambuca“!

While some countries are no longer in the competition, we didn’t forget about them! Of the 15 countries that competed in past Contests, we remembered to include 9 of them (including Hungary, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Turkey, and Yugoslavia, among others).

Our team particularly enjoyed Eurovision 2022, as eight songs on our list came from Turin. However, to find the Contest with the most points, we must go back a decade to Baku, as we awarded 77 points to Eurovision 2012 songs.

We also really enjoyed songs from the 2010s, giving 343 points to that decade, whereas we seem to have forgotten about the 1950s, awarding 0 points to the decade of the Contest’s origins. Of special note, we are apparently not fans of the 1980s, we only managed to concede 18 points to the decade of Johnny Logan and Céline!
