Sam Ryder represented United Kingdom in Eurovision 2022 and finished 2nd in the Grand Final with 466 points and finished 1st by the jury vote. He scored the UK its best result since 1998 and because of him now the Eurovision 2023 will be held in Liverpool, because Ukraine couldn’t host it, the EBU decided to begin discussions with the BBC to do so, as they were the runner-up in the 2022 competition.
