Alicja Szemplińska opens World Handball Championship with official song

Alicja Szemplińska missed her chance to perform on the Eurovision stage in 2020 when the Contest was canceled due to the pandemic. The Voice of Poland breakout star from 2019 did not get a chance to return to Eurovision in 2021, but that had no impact on her career.

Alicja remains one of the most promising singers in Poland. She was recently given the honour of singing Stick Together – the official song of the IHF 2023 Men’s World Handball Championship. On Wednesday she got to perform her song live to a stadium full of fans in Katowice at the Opening Ceremony.

The song features modern, electronic beats, which went down well in the arena as she had many fans up on their feet dancing!

After something akin to the opening Flag Ceremony at Eurovision, Alicja stepped out to perform Stick Together with the students of Ciechanów’s Krasiniak dance group.

Her performance begins at the 1m25s mark in the video below. Would you like to see her back at Poland’s national final (Tu bije serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję) this year? Let us know below in the comments or on our socials @escbubble!
