Amadeus shows off the Sanremo Festival 2023 stage – and it’s mind-blowing

With less than two weeks to go, preparations for the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo are in full swing. The 73rd Festival di Sanremo is set to begin on 7th February and as of today, the stage is ready, and it’s amazing.

In an exclusive video broadcast this morning on Rai 2, Sanremo’s host and artistic director Amadeus briefly took viewers on a tour of the new stage:

“A wonderful illuminated dome, with the skill of our director of photography Mario Catapano. […] This is our wonderful stage where guests and the 28 competing artists will perform.”

Maria Chiara and Gaetano Castelli collaborated for the sixth time to create the Sanremo 2023 stage. They have now created all of Amadeus’ Sanremo stages. This one includes three concentric circles with many light rays that unravel to create a giant dome on stage.

The final preparations are now underway to prepare for the Festival, which will run from 7th to 11th February on the Italian Riviera. This means we will know Italy’s representative for Eurovision in Liverpool, in just 2½ weeks!

Last year, Mahmood and Blanco stormed to victory at the 72nd Festival di Sanremo, winning the televote, the demoscopic jury, and the press vote. At Eurovision in Turin, the duo secured a 6th place finish with Brividi.
