Artists competing at Söngvakeppnin 2023 to be revealed on 28th of January
After receiving 132 songs, RÚV has selected ten entries which will be competing for a chance to wave the Icelandic flag at Eurovision 2023. The audience will be having a chance to know the artists as well as to hear the snippets of the songs in a special show called Lögin í Söngvakeppninni 2023 (Songs of Song Contest 2023) which is set to be broadcast on 28th of January with the beginning on 20:45 CET. Two weeks later, on 11th of February, RÚV will broadcast a show called #12 stig (12 points) – warming up for the Söngvakeppnin 2023 which will feature all of the ten competing acts.
Traditionally Söngvakeppnin 2023 will feature three shows in the following dates:
- First Semi-final – 18th of February
- Second Semi-final – 25th of February
- Grand Final – 4th of March
Last year, Iceland was represented by the trio Systur with “Með hækkandi sól”. They received 23 points and ended at the 23rd place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. You can check their performance below.
