Austrian Head of Delegation teases female act with a different music style for Liverpool

While many countries are in the middle of putting on national selections or may even have already revealed their acts for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, Austria has been one of the few countries that has been very silent up until now.

The most recent news about the Austrian act for Liverpool reached us in November 2022, when it was revealed that the country’s national broadcaster ORF had narrowed its internal selection down to 15 acts. Now Austria has chosen its act for Liverpool and we finally got some more details from Eberhard Forcher, the Austrian Head of Delegation.

Forcher revealed in a Facebook post that for the first time since 2019, Austria would be represented by a female act and on top of that promises a very unique and different sound, that has never been heard from Austria before:

We have an act that also sounds DIFFERENT. In its own way. We never had something in THIS form. It’s gonna be very exciting. And I may reveal one thing: our act for Liverpool will be female this time. And how! More about that next week

The name of the artist is going to be revealed next week. The last time Austria was represented by a solely female act was in 2019, when PÆNDA failed to qualify to the grand final with “Limits”. This also started a series of non-qualifications for Austria, that is still going on.

Will a new female act take Austria back to the final? Who do you think it could be? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and on our social media profiles! @escbubble
