Czech Republic to hold first live national final in 15 years

For the first time in 15 years, the Czech Republic will finally have a live national selection! ESCZ will be a live show broadcast directly from Prague on the 30th of January.

Ahmad Halloun, Assistant Head of Press for the Czech Republic at Eurovision, promises a great live show for 2023;

“It will be a modest and high quality show, once again we are focusing on showcasing Czech talent internationally, and a live show is a fantastic way to do so, the show will be focused of course on a Czech and International audience, something everyone will enjoy.”

The Czech music industry answered ESCZ’s call for submissions. More than 170 songs were submitted, with the majority coming from Czech composers.

Kryštof Šámal (Czech Head of Delegation) is quick to point out that all songs are linked to Czech vocalists, and narrowing down the three that will perform in the Final is an ongoing and excruciating task.

Team ESCZ hopes to finalize the three entries in the coming days and to reveal the names of the finalists with more details of the show in the coming weeks.

More details about ESCZ will be revealed in the near future.

In Turin, We Are Domi opened the Grand Final and their dance anthem “Lights Off” finished in 22nd place overall.
