Germany revives Unser Lied – national final to air March 3rd

Barbara’s back, and so is ‘Unser Lied’! The Germany 12 Points format has been scrapped, and German Eurovision broadcaster Das Erste will air für ‘Unser Lied für Liverpool’ on Friday 3rd March at 22:20 CET.

The show will be hosted by the acclaimed performer and presenter Barbara Schöneberger live from Cologne’s MMC Studios – not too far from the Reeperbahn where we have seen her announce Germany’s points on more than one occasion!

Some details are still to be revealed. There has been no confirmation on how many acts will take part in 2023. One act was found on TikTok, others were found by a team of music experts led by broadcaster NDR, while others were official submissions made before November to Eurovision.de. Record labels and artists were reported to have been approached by NDR as well.

Germany is taking steps to make their national final more inclusive for fans around the globe, and those within Germany. For international fans, you will be able to stream the live show at eurovision.de and on the ARD-Mediathek platform. A pre-show will also be broadcast, starting at 21:20 CET, while even more exclusive backstage videos will be posted on TikTok.

For fans watching from Germany, NDR will provide subtitles and an audio transmission for the live broadcast, and the show will also be shown in German Sign Language (DGS) on eurovision.de and HbbTV for deaf and hard of hearing viewers.

Last year, Germany was represented by Malik Harris, who sadly finished at the bottom of the scoreboard with Rockstars.
