Here is the first song of UMK 2023

The first song of this year’s Uuden musiikin kilpailu (UMK) has been released. You can listen to the song ”No Business On The Dancefloor” by Keira here:

Keira Lundström, who is just about to turn 18, is the youngest artist of this year’s UMK. She first came to the public knowledge last year, when she finished 3rd in The Voice of Finland. Keira has been dreaming of a music career ever since she was a little child, and during The Voice of Finland this dream became even stronger. ”When I got a chance to sing in front of thousands of people, I got an euphoric feeling”, Keira tells Yle.

Keira has recently made a recording deal with Capitol Records Finland, and her UMK song ”No Business On The Dancefloor” is her debut single. The song is written by Teemu Brunila and Axel Ehnström (also known as Paradise Oscar), who are one of the biggest names of the Finnish music industry, together with German producer Jason Ok.

According to Yle, Keira’s musical role models are k-pop groups, like BTS and Stray Kids, and the singer divas, like Ariana Grande, Doja Cat and Dua Lipa. Like her role models, Keira wants to include dancing into her show. This is possible in UMK, since UMK is all about a comprehensive show. In The Voice of Finland there was no time for choreographies.

The jury of UMK 2023 says the following about Keira and her song ”No Business On The Dancefloor”:

Keira, who charmed and convinced in The Voice of Finland, is responsible for perhaps the greatest dance song of UMK-history. The elements of the song are a really groovy bass line, catchy chorus, a strange flute drop and the amazing singing sound of Keira, and from these elements even an European radio hit song could be born. Teemu Brunila and Axel Ehnström, who are amongst the most internationally successful Finnish song writers, are behind the song. ”No Business on the Dancefloor” is surely one of the most convincing debut singles heard for a long time in Finland.
