Here’s how the voting will work in Benidorm Fest 2023!

Benidorm Fest 2023 is set to start next week, and RTVE’s staff is already working hard in the city of Benidorm, getting ready for the show that kicks off on Tuesday with its first semi final. Now RTVE has announced the voting system that will be used to determine the qualifiers from each semi final, as well as the winner of Benidorm Fest 2023, who will go on to represent Spain in Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool.

The voting system is very similar to last year’s one, as the votes of the ‘professional’ jury will once again weigh 50% of the final result. 25% of the result will come from a demoscopic jury (a pre-selected 350 members of the public), and the remaining 25% will be the televoting result from across Spain. The only difference is that this year the professional jury is expanded, and instead of five members, a total of eight jury members will vote based on the songs and performances.

Three members of the ‘professional’ jury will be Spanish (including the former Eurovision entrant – Nina, who is also going to be acting as the President of the jury), whilst another five are going to be international, including the winner of the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest – Katrina Leskanich. The other jury members include former Heads of Delegation of various countries at Eurovision, the President of OGAE Spain, as well as other fans.
