Lyndsay: ”Haunted is an emotional pop ballad which talks about a break up”

The search for the next Maltese Eurovision representative is going strong, as the shows of this year’s MESC are running. One of the participants is Lyndsay, who is hoping to carry her home country’s flag in Liverpool with her powerful pop ballad ”Haunted”. Even though Lyndsay certainly is very busy with the contest right now, she still had time to answer a few questions we asked from her. This is what Lyndsay told us about her musical background, her song ”Haunted”, her upcoming stage show in MESC and some other things too:

Hello Lyndsay and thank you for giving me this interview! At first I’d like to ask what is your relationship to Eurovision? Do you usually watch the contest and do you have some favorite Eurovision songs?

I’m a big fan of Eurovision and this is actually my second time participating in the festival. I have many favorite Eurovision songs!

Could you tell us a little bit something about your musical background? How long have you been singing and do you play any instruments?

Music had always been my ultimate passion from relatively a young age as I showed keen interest in the subjects of drama, dancing and singing thus taking up lessons before evolving my hobbies into more of a passion, quickly becoming a serious career. In fact, I have been taking Speech Level Training for several years from a number of tutors based in the United Kingdom. My career mainly started with the renowned production company Where’s Everybody where I have been selected to perform at a number of popular TV shows. Also, I have participated in several festivals such as The Malta Eurovision Song Contest, X Factor Malta, Britain’s Got Talent, The Hartbex Carpathia Festival, The Fan Vision Song Contest and recently Muzika Muzika.

How would you describe your song ”Haunted” and the message of it?

“Haunted” is an emotional pop ballad which talks about a break up, an experience which I think people can easliy relate to. It has a very special place in my heart and I believe that it brings out the best of me as an artist!

What kind of stage show can we expect from you in MESC?

I would like to transmit the message of the song to the audience without any gimmicks and give a great show but I will leave this as a surprise hehe!

Who are your musicals role models or artists you look up to?

I have many inspirations but my all time favorite artist is Lady Gaga as I believe that she’s an all-rounder and a very versatile performer.

What do you think are the greatest achievements in your career so far and what would you like to achieve in the future?

Amongst several projects, I think that my biggest achievement in my career so far is the release of my debut album “Dopamine” in collaboration with Highkey Music from the UK which includes twelve pop tracks.

If you could sing a duet with any Eurovision artist, who would you choose and why?

Loreen 😊 the best Eurovision singer ever!

What do you do when you don’t do music?

I work at APS Bank as a full time job and any music related projects are more on a part-time basis.

What would it mean to you to win MESC and represent Malta in Eurovision 2023?

It would be a dream come true and it would be such an honour to represent my country! 😊

What would you like to say to our readers and your fans from all over the world?

Thank you for your constant support throughout this incredible journey! I’m enjoying every moment and I’m very grateful to be part of this experience! Sending much love!

Thank you very much for the interview and the best of luck to MESC!
