Sharonne: “My mother wondered why I was always listening to Whitney Houston as a child”
Last month, our very own Joe B got to chat to Sharonne, the winner of Series 2 of Drag Race España and a drag queen with over 20 years’ experience on her CV, ahead of her participation in the first semi-final Benidorm Fest 2023 on Tuesday 31st January.
Sharonne spoke to us about why age is just a number, her experience of growing up in a Southern Spanish family listening to Motown pop divas, and how her obsession with Dana International was channelled at Heathrow Airport, as well as her song “Aire” (Air) and Eurovision itself.
Thank you so much to Sharonne and Diego, her manager, for organising this interview at the end of last year, and buena suerte next week in Benidorm!
