JaxMan:”It’s a song that describes me very well”

Selecția Națională 2023 will soon find out who will represent Romania at Eurovision and we had the opportunity to talk with one of the contestants, JaxMan. JaxMan will compete with the song “Bad & Cool” and he told us what to expect from his performance for Selecția Națională, you can check out the interview below. The national final will take place is Saturday and the winner will be selected only by the public.

Hello JaxMan and thank you for taking you time for ESCBubble! First of all, how was your reaction when you heard you will be at Selecţia Naţională 2023?
Hello hello! Thank you for taking the time to ask me! You can imagine I was in disbelief, right? I was hoping to be selected, of course, but I didn’t put that much hope into it, being my first time submitting for ESC. But seeing my name on that list really put a smile on my face and made me trust my craft more!

What made you decide to enter Selecţia Naţională and what are your expectations from the contest?
ESC for me, is a very big and important competition, and I’ve always admired it, and for that I’m very glad I applied. I think it’s an important step in my career moving forward. No matter the outcome, I will be very grateful that I can say I made it into SNESC 2023!

Your song is called “Bad & Cool”, can you tell us about it, what’s the message behind it?
Yes, of course I can! It’s a song that describes me very well, a song that I hope will resonate with the audience. It’s about not fitting into the mold society is creating for us, and having the courage to say no, to choose for yourself, and be who you want to be! I think in the times we are living in it’s important to remember that.

How will the staging be at Selecţia Naţională 2023? What can we expect from your performance?
I can’t disclose much information about my show just yet, but it will for sure represent me. I’m a laid back guy, simple and like everyone else. I hope I can make people feel close to me.

How does it feel to compete against your friends? Amia & Deiona are from your same music label, does it put extra pressure or do you feel more comfortable?
I don’t take it as competition. I hope they will have the best moments possible in the Final, and I’m very happy we all have that opportunity. I will be rooting for them if one of them goes to ESC 2023 at Liverpool! We are a team and at the end of the day it’s more important to enjoy the music and be human!

This year the public will choose the winner of Selecţia Naţională, is this the right decision or should they bring the jury panel in the final back again?
Hmm, I couldn’t say if it’s the right ot wrong decision. I think we should change things to see what works and what is best for the long run. It’s a bold choice and I think it’s going to be interesting for sure to see what the public likes and supports!

Do you follow Eurovision and do you have a favorite song from the contest?
Yes Eurovision is a contest I followed growing up, and I’m happy I am so close to it today! I think my favorite is Sam Ryder with his song „Space Man”! I just love him as an artist!

And any other plans for 2023? Can we expect new music from JaxMan?
There are a lot of things I’m doing for my project, yes! In 2023 I’m going to establish a route for myself as an artist and let the people in, so they can get to know me. I already have songs, ideas and plans for 2023. You will for sure hear new songs from me this year! I’m excited to share them with you!

In the end, I want to thank you for your time and please, if you have a message for your fans and our readers here on ESCBubble?
I want to thank them so much! I’ve been enjoying so much support online for my song and I love talking and replying to them when I have the chance! Love you guys!
