After six shows, a lot of drama and an exciting finale, the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023 came to an end on February 11th and found its winner with The Busker. The indie-pop band won with their funky song “Dance (Our Own Party)” receiving a total of 121 points (80 from the televoting and 41) from the juries, clearly ahead of Ryan Hili (85 points) and Matt Blxck (76 points).

While The Busker were the clear winners, it remained uncertain whether “Dance (Our Own Party)” would actually be the Maltese entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 or if The Busker would choose a different song to perform in Liverpool. Last year the Malta Eurovision Song Contest was won by Emma Muscat with the song “Out Of Sight” and while Emma remained the Maltese representative, her song was later changed to “I Am What I Am”. Despite of the song change, Emma only finished in 16th place in the semi-final.

Fans were therefore worried if The Busker could meet a similar fate, but their drummer Jean-Paul Borg has now confirmed to Times Of Malta that the band will not change their song for Eurovision.

The song will remain the same, with some production enhancement to the track

This statement also reveals that  “Dance (Our Own Party)” may be revamped, in order to get the best possible production out of the track in hope for the highest possible result. You can watch The Busker’s performance at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023 here.
