Participants of Tu bije serce Europy – Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję! have been revealed
Polish broadcaster, TVP received around 300 songs for this years edition of “Tu bije serce Europy – Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję!”. The expert jury selected the 10 entries which will be competing for a chance to become the next Polish representative at Eurovision Song Contest. The line-up of their national selection was announced this morning during the show “Pytanie na Śniadanie” on TVP 2.
The list of participants (in alphabetical order) is as follows:
- Ahlena – “Booty”
- Alicja Szemplińska – “New Home”
- Blanka – “Solo”
- Dominik Dudek – “Be Good”
- Felivers – “Never Back Down”
- Jann – “Gladiator”
- Kuba Szmajkowski – “You Do Me”
- Maja Hyży – “Never Hide”
- Natasza – “Lift You Up”
- Yan Majewski – “Champion”
Some of the names in the line up are familiar to the Eurovision audience. Alicja Szemplińska was selected to represent Poland at Eurovision 2020 with the song “Empires” but because of the cancellation of the contest she couldn’t compete. She won The Voice Poland 2019 and this year she opened the World Men’s Handball Championship with “Stick Together”. Kuba Szmajkowski competed at last year’s Polish national selection with “Lovesick” and he got 4th place. He was the finalist of the first season of The Voice Kids Poland and he is a former member of a boyband called 4Dreamers.
Natasza Urbańska is a Polish singer, actress and dancer who won The Masked Singer Poland last year. She already competed at the Polish pre-selections twice, with “I Like it Loud” she was third in 2007 while the following year she got 2nd place with “Blow Over” she is back at the national selection after 15 years with”Lift U Up”. The same year she was announced as one of the 50 most influential women in Polish show business.
Ahlena is the stage name of Magdalena Pawłowska. She is a singer, songwriter and producer from Gdańsk. Blanka originally Blanka Stajkow is a 23-year-old girl from Szczecin with half Polish and half Bulgarian origin her entry “Solo” has already been played by various Polish radio stations. Yan (Jan Majewski) was a contestant of the 12th edition of The Voice Poland. Maja Hyży is a singer who is making her third attempt at the Polish national selection. Her first attempt was back in 2018 with the song “Błysk“, then she competed in “Szansa na sukces. Eurowizja 2020″with ABBA’s hit and now with “Never Hide”.
Dominik Dudek is the winner of 13th season of The Voice Poland which finished last year. Felivers is a band which Polish audience could watch in a New Year’s eve program. It’s members are: Miłosz, Konrad, Wojtek and Cody. Jann originally Jan Rozmanowski is a countertenor and from his childhood at the age of 12, he sang at the National Opera later on Jann attended the Flynn Performing Arts School in Newry and studied vocal at the prestigious London BIMM college.
The final of the show “Tu Bije Serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję!” will take place on Sunday 26th of February, at 17:30 CET. It will feature two rounds of voting and in each of the rounds the decision will be made by the jury and public votes. In the first round the best three acts will be chosen and later on the winner will be chosen from those three. In a case of a tie, the jury will decide which song will win. The deadline for all the participants to submit the official audio, music video and staging plan of their performance is 20th of February.
Last year, Ochman represented Poland at Eurovision and after receiving a total of 151 points he ended on 12th place. You can check the performance below
