Sweden is now the bookies’ favorite to win Eurovision 2023
On the day Loreen first rehearsed her Melodifestivalen 2023 entry “Tattoo”, Sweden has now overtaken Ukraine for the country most likely to win the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.
This of course is assuming Loreen wins Melodifestivalen, which after today’s rehearsal and the release of the snippet of “Tattoo” seems almost a certainty. The images released Thursday by SVT show Loreen performing underneath a floating LED wall – mere centimetres above her head!
Fan reaction online has been overwhelmingly in favour of Loreen defending her Eurovision title from 11 years ago in Baku. The bookmakers give “Tattoo” a 57% chance of winning Melodifestivalen. Her closest rivals are Marcus & Martinus who sit at 20%.
The bookmakers’ odds have been all over the place for some time now, as new songs and artists have been announced every week since January. However, Ukraine has been firmly in the lead to win Eurovision 2023 ever since Kalush Orchestra won Eurovision in Turin last May.
Bookmakers now have Sweden’s odds at 22%, whereas Ukraine’s have dropped to 18%. Finland and Norway currently round out the top 3, tied at a 7% chance of winning. Surely the odds will continue to fluctuate until May, but at time of publishing, here is the top 10:
- ๐ธ๐ช Sweden – ย 22%ย *song and artist to be determined on 10th March
- ๐บ๐ฆ Ukraine – 18% – Tvorchi – “Heart of Steel” ย
- ๐ซ๐ฎ Finland – 7% *song and artist to be determined on Saturday
