Trong: “I would love to give something back to Germany for supporting my family”

Trong Hieu is a German-Vietnamese singer and dancer who is competing in the German national final ‘Unser Lied für Livepool’ for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with “Dare To Be Different”. In 2015 he took part in Vietnam Idol and won the competition, which made him a big name in the Vietnamese music scene. However, Trong’s biggest dream has always been the Eurovision stage. After five unsuccesful applications to represent Germany, he has finally made it into the national final on his sixth attempt!

We had a lovely chat with Trong about Eurovision, the time he danced for Britney Spears, writing a songs together with Elsie Bay and his personal origin story, that has made him want to represent Germany.

We thank Trong very much for taking the time to talk to us and wish him the best of luck for the show on March 3rd! You can listen to “Dare To Be Different Here”:
