On New Year’s Eve we reported that the Albanian entry for Eurovision 2023 was expected to get a revamp. Now, some 70 days later, Albina & Familja Kelmendi have finally released the new version of Duje on Eurovision’s official YouTube channel.

Duje came second in Albania’s national song contest, Festivali i Këngës in December, but it a new format, Albanians were able to televote for the entry that should represent Albania at Eurovision, and Albina & Familija Kelmendi were the clear choice.

This revamp was recorded last month in Istanbul and has remained faithful to the lyrics, which remain entirely in Albanian. While the revamp is slight, the song does have a new orchestration. The song is about the separation of family members over time, and the ensuing emotions around that.
