Full results of Festival da Cancao 2023 revealed!

The Grand Final of Festival da Cancao took place on Saturday night, where the Portuguese public and the regional jury have selected Mimicat as the winner with her song “Ai coracao”, and she will go on to represent Portugal at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. Now the Portuguese national broadcaster RTP has revealed the full results of both semi finals, including the second televoting rounds.

Semi Final 1

In the first semi final, as we all know, in the first round due to technical issues it was not possible to vote for song 10 (“Sapatos de Cimento”, performed by Esse Povo), and thus this act was given an automatic pass to the Grand Final. Claudia Pascoal was the jury favorite, whilst Mimicat was the televote favorite in the first semi final. The full results were as follows:

Placing Artist Total Jury Televote% Televote Pts
1 Claudia Pascoal 20 12 14.29% 8
2 Mimicat 19 7 19.37% 12
3 You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown 15 10 8.45% 5
4 SAL 15 8 10.21% 7
5 Churky 15 5 19.11% 10
6 Neon Soho 12 6 9.57% 6
7 Bolha 6 2 6.17% 4
8 MoYah 5 3 1.73% 2
9 April Ivy 4 1 3.61% 3
Esse Povo 4 4

The four acts that failed to qualify faced a second televoting round, in which the results were as follows:

  1. Neon Soho – 55.58%
  2. Bolha – 17.30%
  3. April Ivy – 16.80%
  4. MoYah – 10.32%

Semi Final 2

There were some big differences in the votes of the jury and the televote result in semi 2. The favorite of the jury was Barbara Tinoco, who finished last in the televote, but overall her 13 points were enough to qualify for the Final in fourth place. The televoting favorite was Voodoo Marmalade, who only finished 6th with the juries, but overall that was enough for a second-place finish. Edmundo Inacio, who was second with the jury and fourth with the public won this semi.

We also had a three way tie for the last qualifying slot – between Ivandro, Teresinha Landeiro and Dapunksportif. The rules in the semi finals are that in case of any ties, the song that was ranked higher with the juries is the one that has the advantage, thus Ivandro ended up qualifying in 5th place, sending Teresinha and Dapunksportif to the second televoting round.

Placing Artist Total Jury Televote% Televote Pts
1 Edmundo Inacio 17 10 10.18% 7

8 The Happy Mess 9 3 8.81% 6
9 Bandua 7 4 6.44% 3
10 Lara Li 3 1 6.26% 2

The remaining five acts faced the second televoting round, where the results were as follows:

  1. Dapunksportif – 26.83%
  2. Lara Li – 19.81%
  3. Bandua – 19.10%
  4. Teresinha Landeiro – 18.70%
  5. The Happy Mess – 15.56%

Final

Each regional jury called in during the show and presented their results, which ended up with a tie on the top, as both Mimicat and Edmundo Inacio received the same amount of points – 66, thus when converted into points from 1 to 12, both acts were given 12 points from the jury. It was all down to the televote then, which was won by Mimicat, and she was thus announced as the winner. Interestingly, only Mimicat and Edmundo Inacio managed to score more than 10% of the televote.

All 13 acts managed to score points in the Final. The third and fourth favorites of the public – Dapunksportif and Voodoo Marmalade respectfully, were the bottom two acts with the juries, whilst the fourth place with the juries – the band You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown failed to impress the public, and scored no points in the televote. The full split is as follows:

Placing Artist Total Jury Televote% Televote Pts
1 Mimicat 24 12 19.33% 12
