Joker Out releases duet with Elvis Costello after successful Eurovision tour

After a successful Eurovision tour, Joker Out held a press day at the premises of RTV Slovenija, to announce that they will finally perform to their home audience with a free concert in Ljubljana, on April 25th. Moreover, the band has finally released their much-awaited duet, “New Wave,” with the legendary Elvis Costello.

Kris, Nace, Jan, Jure, and Bojan, recently returned from the Eurovision tour in various European cities such as Barcelona, Warsaw, Tel Aviv, Madrid, Amsterdam, and London. They are now preparing for their upcoming performance at the Eurovision Song Contest and are looking forward to performing live in front of their fans:

When we released Gola in 2019, the godfather of our bass player at the time, a good friend of Elvis, played this song for him. He immediately liked her and complimented us, and that was that. We didn’t hear much about him until last autumn we released the second album Demoni, which also included the song Novi val. The original was created during forest fires in the Karst. It felt like we were being bombarded with nothing but bad news and negative energy.

They continued:

The lyrics of the song call us to look at the world we live in and start appreciating it to the fullest, because it seems that we are destroying it more and more every day. It is a call to all who feel that they belong to the generation that will start making positive changes. This time, Elvis listened to us on his own initiative, because he already knew about us, and this song impressed him so much that he proposed to adapt the text in English, and later he even decided to sing it in a duet with Bojan. We immediately liked his lyrics. He recorded his part in New York with Grammy-winning producer Sebastian Krys, and we finished the song in Ljubljana.”

To complement the song, the band filmed a music video on both sides of the Atlantic – Elvis filmed part in New York, while Joker Out filmed most of their scenes in his native Liverpool. The video’s clever trick, where they walked with Elvis through the streets of Liverpool, was made possible with the help of director Mark Pirc.
