Mimicat: ‘Since Salvador won, I have wanted to go’
We were so lucky to be able to speak to Mimicat ahead of her appearance at the London Eurovision Party where she performed ‘Ai Coração’, her song that will be representing Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.
Mimicat won the Portuguese ticket to Eurovision by winning their national selection, Festival da Canção, back in March, but it was not her first time in the competition. In fact she entered all the way back in 2001 with her song ‘Mundo Colorido’ when she was just 15 years old. In our interview we talked about this, and why she chose now to return to the competition some years later.
We also talked about her experiences of the pre-party season and the connections she has made with all of the other artists from this year’s competition, and in particular how she feels about some of the artists giving her the nickname ‘Mamacat’ because of her supportive nature.
It was a joy to speak to her, and you can watch our interview right here:
Mimicat will perform in slot 5 in the first semifinal on March 9th – you can listen to Ai Coração here:
