Käärijä makes his Fortnite début

Finland has become the first country ever to promote a Eurovision artist on Fortnite, and it’s Käärijä!

Working with the Finnish metaverse company ZOAN, the new gaming experience takes place in a virtual Helsinki, which is also the world’s first city with a photorealistic virtual twin on Fortnite.

Fortnite players can explore a virtual Senate Square in Helsinki and show off their best dance moves in a designated dance area. The music is, of course, Käärijä’s Eurovision hit Cha Cha Cha. The online gaming experience also comes with plenty of promotional content about the artist.

Ida Karimaa, A&R at Monsp and Warner Music Finland, had this to say about the release:

Käärijä is all about breaking boundaries, stirring the pot and creating new ways to connect with fans, so this kind of innovative promo campaign with the gaming world felt immediately like a natural and great opportunity.

The Fortnite platform has over 70 million monthly active users and over 500 million accounts.  This could potentially lead to massive exposure for Finland’s Eurovision artist, especially given the “Rest of the world” vote at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

The gaming experience will be further developed on Fortnite during and after Eurovision if the campaign is a success. Fortnite players and Käärijä’s fans may also get a chance to influence the content of the playing field in the future, but more details on that were not provided at time of publishing.

If you would like to check out the Käärijä content on Fortnite, simply enter the Island Code 1530-0619-6061 on the Discovery screen.
