Serbia’s RTS moves the Semi Finals Eurovision broadcast to their third channel!
Serbia’s national broadcaster RTS announced today that they are moving the broadcast of both Semi Finals of this year’s Eurovision to their third channel. The Serbian Government announced Days of Mourning during last weekend, due to two mass shootings that happened in Serbia.
17 people have tragically lost their lives in Serbia over two days in two mass shootings. Eight children and a security guard were killed, whilst another six children and one teacher were seriously injured, when a 13 year old student opened fire in his elementary school. Only a day later eight people were killed and more were injured when a man randomly started shooting at groups of people in two villages near the town of Mladenovac. The Serbian Government announced Days of Mourning during the last weekend, and media across the country stopped broadcasting entertainment programmes this entire week.
Serbia’s RTS announced that they are contractually obliged to broadcast this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, but they will move the broadcast of the two Semi Finals to their cable channel RTS 3, whilst the Grand Final will be broadcast on their main channel on Saturday evening. The entire Serbian delegation sent their condolences to the victims’ friends and families, and wished a quick recovery to all the injured.
In between rehearsals, Luke Black stated:
Forgive me for not being able to be happy and cheerful like I usually am, but there was a huge tragedy in my country. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those who loved them.
Serbia will compete in tomorrow’s first Semi Final, where Luke Black will perform his song “Samo mi se spava” as the third act of the night. Check out our interview with him at the London Eurovision Party, and give a listen to his entry right below:
