Eurovision Young Musicians returns in 2024

The biennial Eurovision Young Musicians has been confirmed for 2024 and broadcaster NRK has taken responsibility for the event!

Eurovision Young Musicians will take place at the Stormen Konserthuset on Saturday, 17th August 2024 in Bodø, Norway. Bodø’s choice as host city coincides with the city’s tenure as European Capital of Culture in 2024.

EYM has been held every two years since it was first held in Manchester in 1982. Only in 2020 was it not held due to the covid pandemic. Unlike the Eurovision Song Contest, EYM does not travel to the winning country for the next competition. In fact, Vienna hosted four times in a row between 2006 and 2012.

At the time of writing, only Norway (as host) and Slovenia have confirmed participation for the event. For comparison, only 9 countries took part (as 11 withdrew) in 2022, but 18 participated in 2018.

The competition was won last year in Montpellier, France by Czech violinist Daniel Matejča for a magnificent performance from Shostakovich’s 1st violin concerto.
