Is Ruth Lorenzo eyeing a return to Eurovision?

Ten years after she performed Dancing in the Rain in Copenhagen, Ruth Lorenzo could have her sights set on making her second trip to the Eurovision stage.

Lorenzo had planned on participating in Spain’s Eurovision selection show Benidorm Fest 2024. It was looking like a rule change was going to allow for songs to be performed entirely in English for 2024. Her upcoming single Woman was to be the song she submitted for consideration. However the language rule was not changed, making Woman ineligible to compete.

Interestingly however is the launch date of her new EP “La Reina” on 1st September. This date is considered the start of the ‘Eurovision calendar’ as any song released commercially on or after 1st September is eligible to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest.

While Woman cannot take part at Benidorm Fest, there could be other singles on the EP that do meet Benidorm Fest’s language rules – and any of them would automatically be able to compete in Malmö on 11th May.

Fans may get a glimpse of what is to come at her upcoming gig at Sala Razzmatazz in Barcelona on Saturday 9th September. Her socials are promising a concert fans will “never forget”, as she begins her career as an independent artist.

Back in 2014, Ruth Lorenzo scored a 10th place finish for Spain at Eurovision in Copenhagen. Would you like to see her back at Eurovision in the near future? Let us know in the comments below!
