Serbia’s RTS starts an open call for songs for Eurovision 2024!

Serbian national broadcaster RTS has just started their open call for songs for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, which is going to be held in Malmö, Sweden. They also confirmed that once again, the Serbian entry is going to be selected through a national final.

Apart from the standard Eurovision rules that apply, RTS set the following rules as well:

  • at least 51% of the lyrics of the submitted songs must be in one of the official languages used in Serbia
  • the songs need to be submitted either in their final version, or a high quality demo version
  • all submitted songs need to be performed by the artist that would perform the song in the national selection as well
  • foreign composers are allowed, however all artists performing must be citizens of Serbia
  • RTS reserves the right to suggest changes to any of the songs, and/or a change of artist(s) for the submitted song(s)

Song can be submitted via RTS’s website here (click), no longer than the 1st of November 2023. The music editors of RTS will afterwards listen through all of the submitted songs, and select the best ones to compete in the national selection. The winner, and Serbia’s entry for Eurovision 2024 will be selected by a mix of professional jury votes (50%) and televoting (50%).

The exact dates and the exact format of the national selection are yet to be announced. In the meantime, give a listen to Serbia’s entry from earlier this year in Liverpool – Luke Black and his song “Samo mi se spava”:
