Christer Björkman chosen as Contest Producer for Eurovision 2024

Back in June, the core team responsible for producing Eurovision 2024 was announced. At the time, some eyebrows were raised as to why Christer Björkman was not on that list. Well today, host broadcaster for Eurovision 2024 SVT has revealed that Björkman will have a major role after all – that of Contest Producer.

Björkman is familiar to many Eurofans, having worked with Eurovision in 2013 and 2016. Björkman is also well-known for his work on Melodifestivalen, Sweden’s selection show, for over 20 years, and is partly responsible for turning it into the success it has become in the Eurovision fandom.

When asked if he would take the roll, Björkman had this to say:

Eurovision’s values are more important than ever, where diversity and community are the foundation. Therefore, I am extremely proud to once again be one of the producers for this event –  it was impossible to say no.

Joining Björkman in another important roll is Per Blankens, who takes on the roll of TV Producer. His job will be the execution and content of the three live broadcasts in May, with the exception of the competition elements.

This will be Blankens’ first time working on Eurovision, but he has some experience working with Björkman at Melodifestivalen back in 2006 and 2007.
