Czechia to select their entry for Eurovision 2024 in a live national final – ESCZ 2024

The Czech national broadcaster ČT has just informed ESCBubble that they will once again host a live national selection, ESCZ, in order to find the Czech entry for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Malmö next May.

ČT has just opened their call for songs, and also announced all the rules of entering their national selection. Apart from the standard Eurovision rules, these rules will also apply to taking part in ESCZ 2024:

  • The submitted entries can be in the form of a demo (final master versions are not yet required)
  • One artist can submit as many songs as they desire
  • The lead artist (or the lead singer in case of a band) must either have Czech citizenship, or be a Slovak artist who permanently lives and works in Czechia. In case of a duet at least one main vocalist needs to meet one of these conditions

All interested artists can submit their applications no later than the 6th of November at 23:59 CET, via the online platform ceskatelevize.cz/eurovize (click). The national selection will once again be broadcast live, but the exact format and the date(s) are yet to be announced.

Earlier this year the girl-group Vesna won ESCZ, and they went on to represent Czechia in Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. They sung their way to 10th place in the Grand Final, which is Czechia’s second best results in the history of the Contest. Check out their performance of “My Sister’s Crown” once again right here:
