Record Submissions for Benidorm Fest 2024

A press release by Spanish broadcaster RTVE highlighted some amazing news for fans of Spain’s Eurovision selection show Benidorm Fest – at the close of submissions on 10th October, a total of 825 songs were submitted online, 200 of which came in the final 24 hours!

This number is slightly less than double the 455 songs received online for Benidorm Fest 2023. Furthermore, all songs were submitted attached to an artist this year. That is notable as last year over 300 songs were submitted that needed to find an artist.

Also of note is the fact that 23 submitted songs this year came from a special writing camp hosted by RTVE during the third week of September.

The Spanish broadcaster is also pleased with the variety of songs submitted. Several submissions feature reggae, trap, urban, and electronic music, along with an uptick in the number of languages included in the songs will make the 2024 edition of the Festival more diverse than ever.

An expert committee is now reviewing all the submitted songs, and have to narrow them down to a final list of 16 for the two Semi Finals to be held on 30th January and 1st February.

The best four from each Semi Final will qualify for the Grand Final on 3rd February.

For now, we’ll have to wait until 11th November to find out who made the cut and were chosen for the Semis. The big reveal will come during a gala for the Latin Grammys in Seville.

In Liverpool, Benidorm Fest 2023 winner Blanca Paloma failed to win over the public with Eaea, only finishing in 17th place with 100 points, only 5 of which came from the televote.
