In the last hour, Lithuanian pop rock band The Roop, who represented their nation at Eurovision 2021 and were due to compete in 2020, announced on their Instagram that they’ve submitted a song for Eurovizija.LT, the new-look LRT national final for 2024, vowing that “an interesting year awaits all of us”.

The band, who formed in Vilnius in 2014, consists of vocalist Vaidotas Valiukevičius, aka Shmookis, percussionist Robertas Baranauskas and guitarist Mantas Banišauskas. They’ve released three albums, including Concrete Flower in 2022, which has gone gold in five countries.

If they succeed in making the 2024 national final, it will be their fourth time attempting to represent their country at Eurovision, a journey that began in 2018 when they came third at Eurovizijos Atranka with Yes, I Do. Of these three previous attempts, The Roop has won two, with On Fire in 2020 and Discoteque in 2021, which went on to finish 8th at Eurovision in Rotterdam.

Since their appearance at Eurovision, the band has appeared at various pre-parties and has become a mainstay on Lithuanian television. Their 2022 single, Love Is All We Got, was released to raise funds for charities assisting the war effort in Ukraine.
