Ivana: "Usually other people create music and then call me to bring it to life"
Ivana Vladović is a singer from Belgrade who has already gotten a chance to grace the stage of Eurovision Song Contest on three occasions, being the backing vocalist twice for Montenegro (2015 and 2018) and once for Serbia in 2019. Ivana performed backing vocals for many singers including Marija Šerifović, since 2020 she cooperates with SevdahBABY on his album Dekameron where she sang three songs and he is the one behind her entry for Pesma Za Evroviziju 2024, Jaka.
Hello Ivana, first of all I would like to congratulate you for being selected for Pesma za Evroviziju 2024. How does that feel and what made you decide to return to the show?
Hello everybody! Thanks, I just missed it, and came back. Happy and inspired to be here again!
You competed at Serbian national selections in 2019 singing “Moja Bol”with Wonder strings and in 2022 singing “Prijaće ti” with Jovana. We will see you as a solo act for the first time on PzE stage how does that feel and in which way is this experience different to the previous two?
The most of organization is on me, so it is quite harder, but this is truly one of my fav types of music, so I represent myself in a best way.
How did “Jaka” came to life and what does it mean to you?
SevdahBABY made it just for me. He knows me. This is one woman power song!
On the creation of your entry you worked with SevdahBaby (who competed at Serbian national selection in 2018) and with whom you released a couple of newest songs. How did that cooperation start?
He saw an interesting video on my Instagram, which inspired him to write the song called AE, and we never stopped working together.
What can we expect from your performance? Can you give us a hint?
You will see.
Where do you find inspiration for the music you create? Do you have any music role models?
Usually other people create music and then call me to bring it to life, I sing a lot in studios… Sometimes I write poetry, but I don t have any model for that, I m just being inspired by life.
You took part at Eurovision on three occasion as a backing vocalist (for Montenegro in 2015, 2018 and for Serbia in 2019) how were those experiences for you and is there any anecdote which you’d like to share with our readers?
Free days on Eurovisions are usually the coolest, then we go out together, totally relax, and laugh a lot. I had the best time in Tel Aviv ESC 2019.
If you had a chance to make a duet with any Eurovision participant, who would you choose?
Maybe Loreen, she is great.
What are the three things you never leave your house without?
Keys, money and labello.
What do you do when you are not singing or creating music? Any hobbies?
I go to the gym, read books, dance a lot, take a walk by the river with friends, eat cheese and drink some wine, and I love cooking.
What are your plans after Pesma za Evroviziju 2024?
To go to ESC, and then I will have some new songs, one is already in progress. Many concerts and traveling gigs.
