The Eurovision 2024 Stage Is Complete!

Earlier today, SVT has released photos of the Eurovision 2024 stage – constructed and complete in Malmö Arena!

The stage designed by veteran Florian Wieder contains more than 2000 lighting fixtures which needed four weeks of pre-programming in order to be set up for use. The set contains approximately 1000 square metres of LED screen. The LED background is 340 square metres big while the LED floor is 186 metres large. The design also features LED cubes hanging from the ceiling.

The stage is shaped like a Greek cross and creates a particular staging potential for the competing performances at this year’s contest. The EBU adds that this set up creates “a unique 360-degree experience that the audience and viewers will het to experience in May.”

This is the seventh Eurovision Song Contest stage to be designed by Florian Wieder. In an EBU statement upon the stage reveal, Wieder expresses the same enthusiasm about this year’s set:

“I am so happy to be part of the Eurovision family again! Putting together an exceptional show is a team effort and I’m proud to be part of a dream team of professionals – just the right constellation of people to come up with something different and new.”

Light Designer Fredrik Stormby added:

“We believe that together we have created what is an unexpected and updated concept for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 and are looking forward to showing it off for real! We’ve developed a strong concept together, and I’m really looking forward to getting my teeth into the show and doing the broadcasts!”

During these past days, the technical team in Malmö carried out the stand-in rehearsals to make sure the technical elements and camera shots of each performance are sorted out before the delegations start their general this Saturday.
