EMA returns for Slovenia and will take place on February 1st
Slovenia will participate at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest and EMA will return as the broadcaster’s national selection on February 1st.
Submissions are open until November 25 and will be assessed by a jury of no less than three members. The finalists will be revealed by December 20. The final will be a one night event where 12 finalists will compete in the first round. Two songs will advance to the super final. These two songs will be decided by means of a demoscopic jury. According to RTVSLO:
“Each jury will consist of five members, and they will be thematic. The jury of music performers, creators and producers (1) will consist of singers and other performers, authors of music and lyrics, creators of covers or arrangers, music producers, the television jury (2) will include editors, presenters, directors, choreographers, designers of the overall image, etc., the radio jury (3) will include radio editors and editors, journalists, presenters, etc., and members of the jury of fans of the Eurovision Song Contest will also cast their votes (4); it will include members of the Club of Lovers of Eurovision Songstresses OGAE Slovenia) and a jury of international online influencers in the field of Eurovision Song Contest (5); it will include creators of blogs, vlogs, online journalists, online commentators, etc. from abroad.”
The two super finalists will then battle it out in the super final where the winner will be decided by a 100% televote.
EMA makes its return as Slovenia’s national final for the first time in three years. LPS with ‘Disko’ were the last winners of the show in 2022. After this, Joker Out were internally selected to represent Slovenia in 2023 with ‘Carpe Diem’, and although the broadcaster initially announced a national final for 2024, they internally went with Raiven with the song ‘Veronika.’
