Meet the 17 participants of Junior Eurovision 2024

The week of Junior Eurovision 2024 has started! This year, Cyprus and San Marino will return to the contest after a few years of absence, while the UK has decided not to take part in the contest. A total of 17 countries will join in Madrid for the annual show, which will take place in Spain for the first time. They will be hosting a Eurovision event after 50 years!

🇦🇱 Albania: Nikol Çabeli – Vallëzoj

Nikol Çabeli was selected to represent Albania at Junior Eurovision from their now traditional national selection Junior Fest. The show featured 17 candidates performing original songs, but it was the 12-year-old artist born in Greece who eventually got the ticket to Madrid with Vallëzoj (Dance). The song was composed by Endri Muçaj and written by Eriona Rushiti, who also wrote the lyrics of the last year’s JESC entry.

🇦🇲 Armenia: Leo – Cosmic Friend

10-year-old Leo will represent Armenia after being selected internally by the broadcaster. The young singer, who also enjoys football and reading, will perform the song Cosmic Friend. For the composition, ARMTV trusted the same team behind the 2024 entry with music by tokionine and lyrics by JESC 2021 winner Maléna and Vahram Petrosyan.

🇨🇾 Cyprus: Maria Pissarides – Crystal Waters

Maria Pissarides will be the Cypriot performer for their fourth return to Junior Eurovision. The 11-year-old performer currently studies full-time at a performing arts school in the United Kingdom and enjoys her favourite hobbies in her free time, including watching films, drawing, playing with her dog, eating chocolate and berries and spending time with her two brothers. Maria will sing Crystal Waters written by herself with the help of JESC 2014 participant Sophia Patsalides and Armin HIGHMØRE Gilani, who also composed the music.

🇪🇪 Estonia: ANNABELLE – Tänavad

13-year-old ANNABELLE will wave the Estonian flag at Junior Eurovision 2024. She was selected internally after winning Tähtede Lava, a prestigious national song contest, earlier this year. Apart from music, ANNABELLE enjoys sports as an accomplished athlete. She will perform the song Tänavad (Streets), composed by the well-known Eurovision composer Sven Lõhmus, who was behind the iconic songs “Rändajad” and “Rockefeller Street” among others.

🇫🇷 France: Titouan – Comme ci comme ça

Representing last year’s winning country is Titouan, who is already an experienced contestant in talent shows like The Voice Kids. The 14-year-old French singer was selected by the broadcaster to sing Comme ci comme ça (Like This, Like That) in Madrid. Titouan has many followers on social media, where he uploads cover songs, and loves cinema, film music, cooking and manga. His song was written and composed by Malo’ helped by Marie Bastide in the lyrics.

🇬🇪 Georgia: Andria Putkaradze – To My Mom

Andria Putkaradze (11) was selected to represent Georgia at Junior Eurovision from the talent show Ranina, where a professional jury panel rated the acts according to the live voice, acting, artistic performance and collaborative skills. He will perform To My Mom, composed by the most successful author in the history of Junior Eurovision Giorgi Kukhianidze and written by Maka Davitaia.

🇩🇪 Germany: Bjarne – Save The Best For Us

11-year-old Bjarne was selected to represent Germany in Madrid through a national selection process that featured five finalists performing original songs. Not only did he get the highest score in the online voting, which allowed the audience to have a say in the final result, but also from the expert panel. Bjarne had previously been a semifinalist of The Voice Kids. Save the Best for Us, written and composed by Ignacio Uriarte, Kai Oliver Krug and Thomas Meilstrup, is the title of the song the young contestant will perform at Junior Eurovision 2024.

🇮🇪 Ireland: Enya Cox Dempsey – Le Chéile

Enya Cox Dempsey will represent Ireland after winning her country’s national selection Junior Eurovision Éire. TG4’s show consisted of different episodes featuring performances of cover versions. This year, the Irish national selection had a slightly renewed format and the jury decided the winner. The 14-year-old singer, who loves rock ‘n’ roll, will perform Le Chéile (Together), composed by Ian James White and Nicky Brennan with lyrics by Laoise Ní Nualláin.

🇮🇹 Italy: Simone Grande – Pigiama Party

Italy’s Simone Grande was chosen to represent his country following his success at The Voice Kids, which he ended up winning. The almost 12-year-old singer, who is passionate about football, cooking, dancing and, of course, singing, will bring us a Pygiama Party (Pyjama Party), composed and written by Luca Mattioni and Paolo Meneguzzo with the help of Alex Uhlmann, as co-author of the music.

🇲🇹 Malta: Ramires Sciberras – Stilla Ċkejkna

Ramires Sciberras will perform Stilla Ċkejkna (Little Star) for Malta in Madrid. The 12-year-old artist will be the first-ever participant singing fully in Maltese at Junior Eurovision. Ramires was born in Cambodia but moved to the Mediterranean island at a very early age. He was chosen to represent his home country from an open national selection that featured 14 finalists performing original songs. Stilla Ċkejkna was written by Lon Kirkop and composed by Aleandro Spiteri Monsigneur and Peter Borg.

🇳🇱 Netherlands: Stay Tuned – Music

The band Stay Tuned won the ticket to Madrid at Junior Songestival 2024. Chiara (14), Inkar (13), Niek (12) and Miucha (13) formed a group during the national selection when the casting members noticed they’d succeed together on stage. The four young artists already have experience on stage, Chiara has performed at several musicals, Inkar was a member of the children’s choir Kinderen voor Kinderen, Niek loves entertaining audiences and Miucha took part at The Voice Kids. They will perform the song Music written by Jermain van der Bogt and Willem Laseroms.

🇲🇰 North Macedonia: Ana and Aleksej – Marathon

The duo Ana and Aleksej were selected to represent North Macedonia at Junior Eurovision from an internal audition. Both come from Bitola and have already participated in various music festivals. Apart from singing, the young artists share their love for maths, and French, as well as spending their free time on social media and watching performances online. Ana (14) and Aleksej (12) will perform the song Marathon, written by Magdalena Cvetkovska and composed by Lazar Cvetkovski.

🇵🇱 Poland: Dominik Arim – All Together

11-year-old Dominik Arim was chosen for Junior Eurovision at the Polish national selection Szansa na Sukces: Eurowizja Junior. The young performer and Aleksandra Antoniak reached the superfinal of the show, where they had to perform the original song All Together composed by Sławomir Sokolowski with lyrics by Aldona Dąbrowska. Dominik was the winner after getting the most support from the audience and will sing the song in Madrid. The Polish talent has already experienced performing on big stages, as he reached the semifinals of The Voice Kids earlier this year.

🇵🇹 Portugal: Victoria Nicole – Esperança

Born in Venezuela, Victoria Nicole was selected to represent Portugal following her victory at the country’s version of The Voice Kids. The 14-year-old singer, who has been living in the country since 2018, will perform a self-written song in Portuguese and her mother tongue Spanish called Esperança (Hope). Apart from singing, she enjoys playing the piano and the ukulele as well as composing and writing songs, which makes her feel free.

🇸🇲 San Marino: Idols SM– Come Noi

San Marino is back to Junior Eurovision with the girlband Idols SM. Aged between 11 and 12, Asia, Giorgia, Giulia and Vera Stefania are the four members of the group, which was formed to perform in Madrid. Their song was selected at the charity event Sogna Ragazzo Sogna by a professional expert panel after performing the two candidate entries. The winning one was Come Noi (Like Us), written and composed by Francesco Sancisi, Nicola Della Valle and Paolo Macina.

🇪🇸 Spain: Chloe DelaRosa – Como La Lola

The 9-year-old “cantista” (singer and artist) Chloe DelaRosa will sing for the host country. The youngest of all 17 participants was chosen by the broadcaster following an internal selection process that received double the number of applications in 2023. Chloe started singing at three years old but it wasn’t until the lockdown that she went viral covering songs by her favourite singers. She has co-written her song Como La Lola (Like Lola) along with Alejandro Martínez, David Parejo and Luis Ramiro, who also were behind last year’s 2nd placed entry.

🇺🇦 Ukraine: Ukraine: Artem Kotenko – HEAR ME NOW

Artem Kotenko will wave the Ukrainian flag in Madrid after winning his country’s national selection. Ukraine selected their artist and song for Junior Eurovision from a national final, where a professional jury and the audience via online voting had the power to decide. In his free time, the 12-year-old talented performer loves theatre, playing piano and dancing. Artem will sing HEAR ME NOW, written and composed by Svitlana Tarabarova, on the big stage at Caja Mágica.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place on Saturday, November 16 at 18:00 CET. The show, to be held at Madrid’s Caja Mágica, will be hosted by former participant Melani García, Eurovision 2014 representative Ruth Lorenzo and actor Marc Clotet.
