MGP returns to Oslo Spektrum in 2025, tickets on sale this Friday

Norwegian broadcaster, NRK, has prepared some huge changes for the upcoming edition of Melodi Grand Prix which is set to take place on 15 of February 2025.

For the first time since 2019 the Norwegian national selection for Eurovision Song Contest will feature only one show in addition to that after a 6 years break MGP returns to Oslo Spektrum. It will feature 10 artists who will be performing their entries for a chance to represent this Scandinavian country in Basel next year. Tickets for the show are going on sale this Friday 22nd of November at 12:00 CET. The reveal of all competing acts is going to happen traditionally during a press conference on 16th of January, 2025.

The show will be hosted by Marte Stokstad, Tete Lidbom and Markus Neby. Stokstad has been the host of MGP 2010 and 2012 in addition to that in 2012 and since 2018 regularly she was the host of special Eurovision entries promotion show called “Adresse Europa”  where she was joined with 3 other experts as well as 4 fans/fan media enthusiasts who rated all of the competing entries at the Eurovision Song Contest. Marte was also the Eurovision commentator during the broadcast on NRK

I am really looking forward to this. The last time I officiated the MGP Final was in 2012 and I haven’t lost interest in the competition since then. It does happen that artists get to try again in this competition, and it’s good to see that this also applies to presenters. This is a long-awaited reunion for me.

Marte Stokstad about becoming the host for MGP 2025

Tete Lidbom is a radio host and together with Sven Bisgaard Sundet he is the author of football podcast “Heia Fotball” unlike Marte he is a total newcomer to Eurovision. The last one who will be guiding the audience through the finale of Melodi Grand Prix 2025 is a Norwegian comedian, musician, TV presenter and radio host Markus Neby. He has been involved in last edition of the show as a roving reporter.

These changes happened as there was a change within the Norwegian Eurovision team. After 10 years, Norwegian HoD and the Music director of MGP, Stig Karlsen has decided to leave both positions. Tarjei Strøm will be the new Music Director for Melodi Grand Prix, while Mads Tørklep will serve the role as the new Norwegian Head of Delegation at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Melodi Grand Prix 2024 was won by folk metal band Gåte whose song “Ulveham” did not manage to reach the attention of the wider audience as they received only 16 points in the grand final which made them the last positioned act of that night. You can check out their performance below
