Malta ESC 2025 line-up to be announced later today

Yesterday evening, a press release from the Maltese public broadcaster laid out the details for the artist and song reveal of MESC 2025, the show that will determine who wins the country’s ticket to Basel in May.

PBS is thrilled to announce that Daniel and Ylenia, the beloved hosts from Magic 91.7, will reveal the 24 semi-finalists competing in the upcoming Malta Eurovision Song Contest. The announcement will take place during an exclusive live stream on TVM+ and the official Facebook pages of Eurovision Song Malta and TVM.

Tune in on the 12th December, at 5:30PM [CET] to find out which artists will move one step closer to representing Malta at Eurovision 2025.

A 10 seconds snippet will also be played of each song that made it to the semifinal.

The Eurovision Song Malta semi-finals will take place on the 4th and 6th of February, with the grand final happening on the 8th of February 2025, at the prestigious MFCC in Ta’ Qali.”

Malta will be hoping to end a 4-year dry spell at Eurovision, having last qualified for the final back in 2021. The winner of MESC 2024, Sarah Bonnici, failed to capture the public’s imagination in Malmö, winding up 16th and last in semi-final 2 with the song Loop.

I accidentally stumbled across Eurovision after staying up past my bedtime in 2005, then got hooked in 2009, discovered semi-finals in 2011, then national finals in 2016, and now, it's my favourite sport (you can bet on it, after all). My all-time favourite Eurovision songs are Sergio Dalma's "Bailar pegados" (Spain 1991) and Lordi's "Hard Rock Hallelujah" (Finland 2006).
