JJ is the Austrian representative at Eurovision 2025

Austrian broadcaster, ORF has revealed that their 58th representative at Eurovision Song Contest will be a 23 years old, Austrian-Filipino countertenor, Johannes Pietsch whose stage name is JJ.

JJ was born in 2001 and grew up in Dubai before returning back to Austria in 2016. He is performing at the Vienna State Opera and some of his roles were in Die ZauberflöteVon der Liebe Tod, Tschick, and other pieces. Johannes is a student of classical music at Music and Art Private University of Vienna (MUK). Austrian audience had a chance to hear JJ before as he was one of the finalist of music show “Starmania” in 2021. His Eurovision entry will be presented in early March, but before that on Friday, 7th of February with the start at 21:00 on ORF 2 the Austrian audience will be able to hear JJ which many describe as incredible talent.

About the chance to represent Austria JJ said it was huge honor adding that his heart beats for the big show, and there is nothing bigger than the Eurovision Song Contest and he hopes to bring an unforgettable performance to the stage.

From 2017, ORF is internally selecting their representatives at Eurovision Song Contest. The selection process involved several stages first they went with talent scouts who searched the Austrian music scene which was later followed by a songwriting camp after that the best songs were presented to a jury which consisted of 30 experts and 30 representatives of OGAE clubs from five countries in addition to their votes there were the votes of ORF Song Contest editorial team.

JJ is an exceptional talent! With him, we are sending a unique artist to Basel who brings his own magic to the Eurovision Song Contest stage, with captivating pop and classical singing.

Last year the Austrian flag was waved by Kaleen whose “We Will Rave” ended as 24th in the final after she scored 24 points. You can check out her performance below.
