Ágúst:”We are doing something that has never been done in Söngvakeppnin”

Icelandic national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2025, Söngvakeppnin, is kicking off this Saturday with some changes to it. The contest this year won’t feature a wild card act as the best three acts of each semi-final will advance to the grand finale of the show which is set to take place on 22nd of February. The thing which remains is that all of the songs will be performed in Icelandic in the semi-final while in the final the artists can choose to perform the English language version of the song if that is the version which they would like to compete at the ESC 2025 stage.

One of the five artists competing this Saturday is a 25 years old musician from Husavik called Ágúst. This will be his debut at the stage of Söngvakeppnin. We had a lovely chat about his musical beginnings, growing up in Husavik, the creative process behind “Like you” as well as the performance which he is preparing.
