EMMY: ‘I can’t choose one style of music that’s why my songs are so different’

The Eurovision 2025 pre-parties have just started with Eurovision in Concert taking place in Amsterdam last Saturday, a total of 30 artists performed their entries for ESC 2025, some of which did it for the first time. Before the show took place we had a chance to interview them.

We spoke with EMMY who shared with us how does it feel to be representing Ireland at Eurovision 2025 with her song “Laika Party”. Find out more in our interview below

Emmy Kristine Guttulsrud Kristiansen is 24 years old singer/songwriter who studied visual communications at the University of Southeast Norway. She comes from Sande in Vestfold and was born in a musical family. In 2011, her older brother participated in MGP junior, which made EMMY dream of doing that herself once. In 2015, the dream came true, and she took the stage in Oslo Spektrum with the song Aiaiaiai which has been streamed more than 1.1 million times.  EMMY made a breakthrough among Eurovision audience as a finalist of MGP 2021 with “Witch Woods” in addition to that she has been the songwriter of “Woman Show” by Mathilde SPZ at MGP 2024 and “Ramtai” by Citi Zēni, third placed act of Latvian selection Supernova 2025. EMMY also wrote her entry Laika Party together with her brother Erlend Guttulsrud Kristiansen as well as Larissa Tormey, Truls Marius Aarra and Henrik Østlund. The song was written at the Rena Song Fest songwriting camp in Norway, where Emmy and Tormey met. You can check out our public react video for EMMY’s ESC entry Laika Party below:
